A New Series Is Coming!

In 2019, I wrote a prequel novella set in the Federation Chronicles universe. Ever since then, I’ve felt that Elias Browning’s story was incomplete. That novella needed to become something larger. For years, I let the idea sit on the back burner while I worked on other projects, but Elias Browning wouldn’t leave me alone.

This year, I finally decided it was time.

If you’ve read my other books, you probably know what drives me as a storyteller: characters worth caring about, relationships worth fighting for, and the belief that life is worth living and saving. Across more than forty books, I’ve explored the tension between good and evil, the hard decisions that define us, and the sacrifices people make for those they love.

That’s what I look for as a reader, and it’s what I try to deliver as a writer.

With Federation Chronicles, I explored the aftermath of a galactic war that changed everything. With Browning’s Gambit, I wanted to go back and explore the career of one of the most influential figures at the heart of that history. Elias Browning begins here as a newly minted captain facing impossible choices, but his journey will reach far beyond a single ship, a single battle, or a single world.

My plan for this series is to follow Browning through a time of enormous change in a far-future galaxy. Alliances will be made. Star nations will rise and fall. Friends will become legends, enemies will become necessary allies. But how does one newly minted ship captain become one of history’s most hated figures?

At its heart, this is a story about courage, loyalty, sacrifice, and the cost of defending freedom when the lines are not always as clear as we wish they were.

Commander Elias Browning’s career was all but over. Then command of a warship was thrust into his hands at the worst possible moment.

He wasn’t supposed to be in charge. But abandoning his crew was never an option.
When a powerful enemy discovers a hidden colony world, Browning is ordered to stand down and let it fall. Millions of lives sacrificed to keep the peace.

He refuses.

Outgunned and alone, Browning breaks from the chain of command and takes his ship toward a confrontation he isn’t expected to survive. Victory will cost him. Failure will cost more than the colony.

But the colony holds more than civilians. Somewhere inside, a brilliant young scientist has built something no one fully understands. Something that could be Browning’s only edge. If the enemy gets it first, everything that follows is already decided.

Now he has to hold together a crew that didn’t choose him, work with an intelligence agent he doesn’t trust, and face an enemy that has never lost.

Somewhere ahead, the enemy’s most dangerous warship is already hunting him.

And winning will take the kind of thinking that nearly ended his career.

First Colony Returns!

I’m so excited to share that the wait for the next First Colony book is almost over.

Dark secrets lurk among the stars. Are they ready for them?

General Connor Gates is leading a task force on the most ambitious exploration initiative to date. The crew aboard the ships are mix of military and civilian, and include his son, Ethan, who has grown into a well respected leader.

While exploring a strange alien world, the team investigating the wreckage of an alien ship is brutally attacked. The survivors barely escape and are now fighting for their lives and their sanity…including Ethan. They’ve been exposed to a dangerous contagion, and it’s going to spread.

Evidence surfaces that there are prisoners on the planet, and their fates are somehow linked to the survivors on the ship.

For Connor Gates, it’s all or nothing: rescue the people left behind and find a way to heal his son, or lose everything. But when a mysterious alien encounter presents an unthinkable choice, Connor’s decision will affect the future of humanity’s place in the galaxy.

They knew they weren’t alone in the galaxy, but no one could’ve predicted an encounter that would change all the rules.

What’s next for me?

The audiobook version for Resurgence will be out by August, and Scott Aiello is onboard to narrate. I’m so happy about that. With a series that’s ongoing like this I’m grateful that Scott is still available and willing to narrate these books.

I’ll be working on First Colony Book 17, which I plan to release in September. I’ve got my summer project, and I’m thinking that —in my mind at least— I won’t be anywhere sunny or pleasant.

I hope you enjoy Resurgence – First Colony Book 16. The book was a lot of fun and challenging to write. It’s a process I enjoy a lot, and I’m looking forward to writing the next book.

As always, thank you for supporting my work.

New Book, New Series, and my writing schedule this year

Usually when I’ve become quiet, it means I’m busy writing. In this case, I’ve been working on a new series of books called SPACE RAIDERS. Think Indiana Jones meets Star Wars. I try to do something different with each book that I write and this also applies to a new series. For Space Raiders, I wanted to take a present-day adventurer and toss him in the deep end. Combine the things I loved about Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and many other shows, movies, and books I grew up watching during the 70s and 80s. Adventure stories just for the fun of it.

Way back in September 2022, I’d released Expedition Earth – First Colony Book 14. It was a huge milestone in that series where the colonists finally return to Earth. That book is the longest book I’d ever written and was a satisfying story to write. It’s gratifying to know that after 14 books, people are still hungry for more books in that series. I plan to write more books in First Colony, but I’m ready to write something new. Challenge myself as a storyteller and writer. The fruits of that effort if Space Raiders, a science fiction adventure story just for the fun of it. More on that in a second.

I plan to release 4 books this year. 3 books in the Space Raiders series and 1 book in the First Colony series. My 2023 release schedule will be the following:

  • Space Raiders Book 1 – January 25th
  • Space Raiders – Forgotten Empire — May 4th
  • Space Raiders – Book 3 (Title TBD) – Late August
  • First Colony Book 15 – Late December (Hopefully by Christmas).

Here is a little bit about Space Raiders.

After years of searching, Nathan Briggs is finally on the verge of finding the lost shipwreck. Unfortunately, the aliens have other plans.

When Nathan stops a brutal attack on an unsuspecting victim, he gets more than he bargained for and sets into motion events that will change his life forever. They told him he should’ve run away, and maybe they were right.

Nathan is about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime.

Aliens are real. He has something they need, and they’re not the only ones hunting for it.

And while the aliens have advanced technology, they’re about to learn something. When the going gets tough, Nathan doesn’t give up, he just gets tougher.

Embark on the adventure of a lifetime with Bestselling Author Ken Lozito in this brand new science fiction series. If you’re a fan of old school heroes and villains in a galaxy full of unknowns, then this might be the adventure for you.

Available for Pre-Order Now!

Space Raiders comes out on January 25th for ebook and print.

I hope you considering joining me on this new adventure with this series. New characters, new enemies, and crazy situations across the galaxy. It’ll be fun.

One more thing. This series will be released in Audio. I don’t have all the details to share yet, but I do have things in the works.

Until next time.

Thank you for reading.

February Update – What’s Going On!

I’ve been making great progress on INFINITY – First Colony Book 13. Lucky number 13! I was very productive last month and I will finish this book on time. Woohoo! I’ll save the celebratory drink for when I actually finish the book. The pre-order for the book is below.

Venturing into the unknown means pushing the limits of everything thought possible.

10 years ago, the Ark II departed on a long journey through interstellar space, but shortly after they reached their destination, all communications ceased. All attempts to re-establish contact have failed.

Utilizing prototypical FTL technology that he invented, one brave man will lead a small expedition into the unknown to discover the colony’s fate.

The challenges of establishing the first interstellar colony nearly destroyed humanity. What new challenges will the second colony bring?

Available for Pre-Order!

Readers who have been following this series won’t be surprised by the advent of FTL technology in this book. Noah and others have been working on it for a while now, and there will be quite a few surprises in store for them. One of the rules I’d established for this series was that they didn’t have FTL capabilities. Once the colonist arrived at New Earth, they were pretty much stuck there for the most part. Over the course of the previous 12 books, the story shows the evolution of the First Colony through the struggles the characters face and the obstacles they overcame. Given what’s been accomplished, I felt it was time to begin the next chapter in this series. I’ve been fortunate enough to write so many different types of stories in this series, from exploring a new world, epic space battles, post-war struggles and infighting, and a taste of the multiverse. The cast of characters has grown as well, where we’re starting to see more of the next generation of colonists begin to take an active part in the story. It’s been both challenging and a lot of fun for me as a storyteller.

Regarding book titles. I try to pick titles that have a meaningful connection with the story. So what’s with INFINITY then? Well, the INFINITY is that beautiful ship on the book cover 😉

If you happened to wander here and have never read the First Colony series, maybe give it a try. The First Colony series is a Space Opera Epic series with roots in Military Science Fiction. It has a rich array of characters and situations that have caused some people to lose a little sleep while they read just one more chapter.

That’s my status update for February.

As always, thank you for reading my work.
