Status Update:
I’m a couple of weeks away from finishing the first draft of Acheron Inheritance, which is the first book in a new series. I’d initially intended to have the book completed and ready for release by the end of June. That’s not going to happen. I’ve pushed back the release of this book to September.
3 months!
Why?
A couple reasons.
First, a confession. I can’t wait to share Acheron Inheritance with you. I’m the type of person who hates holding onto birthday presents because I can’t wait to give them to their intended recipients. The decision to delay the book release wasn’t reached without a lot of thought.
Second, Acheron Inheritance is a rich, ambitious story where I’m pushing my capabilities as a storyteller. I’m not a perfectionist, but my goal is to write stories that people enjoy reading.
Third, I’m going to try to have the audiobook ready for when the book is finally released. There is usually a three-month gap or more between when a book is published and when the audiobook is available. I’m hoping schedules will align that will allow for this to happen.
What’s Acheron Inheritance about? A galaxy in turmoil.
In the coming months, I’ll be sharing a lot more about the new series. It’s been a challenge and a lot of fun to write.
I’m also in the planning stages of preparing to write Invasion – First Colony Book 11. Book 11! When I first started writing this series, I didn’t expect to write as many books in it as I’ve had. If you’ve read my author’s note at the end of Vigilance, then you’ll understand why.
Invasion is another ambitious book and is the culmination of a long series arc. I’m aiming to release Invasion in September as well. A question I get often is will Invasion be the last book in the First Colony series. My answer is an emphatic NO! I intend to keep writing stories in the First Colony universe for years to come. However, this won’t be the only series that I’ll be writing in.
This has been a lengthy update, but I had a lot I wanted to share with you and there is one more thing. The audiobook for Insurgent – First Colony Book 10 is nearing completion and will be available in the next 30 days.

May is upon us and it’s time for a status update. I’ve been writing a book in a new science fiction series. I’ve mentioned it before – Acheron Inheritance. I’m about 50% through the first draft and have been enjoying getting to know a new cast of characters for this series. I was planning to release this book in June, but the plan has changed. I missed the deadline I set for myself for this book. I don’t like missing deadlines, but current events have been really distracting. I pride myself on being able to put on blinders and get to work, but sometimes I need to take them off to see what's going on in the world. Stay safe.
The new plan for Acheron Inheritance is to release the book in September, and I will try to have the audiobook ready for when the book is released. This is something I haven’t done before and requires some coordination.
What’s next for First Colony?
First, thank you for everyone who's read Insurgent. I really wasn’t sure what the response would be to that book given the current global pandemic. If you’ve enjoyed the book, please consider leaving a review.
I’ve begun planning Invasion – First Colony Book 11, and I plan to begin writing it in mid-June. I’m still aiming for a September release for book, and the audiobook will come out within two months after. If you’ve been reading the First Colony series, then you already know that events have been building to an epic showdown. I’m anticipating this book being one of the longest in the series.
September will be the time for new releases for me.

I'm excited to share my latest book release. Insurgent – First Colony Book 10!

I started off this month with an annoying cold. Some colds really knock you off your feet, but not this one. It was just there, bothersome enough to be worthy of acknowledgment, but not so horrible that I couldn’t keep on working.
Insurgent – First Colony Book 10 is going through revisions and I’m on schedule to release in mid-April.
Woohoo!
This is the 20th book I’ve written since 2013. I feel like I’ve hit a milestone. The next milestone is 50 books, which I plan to reach in 10 years. Check back in 2030 to see if I achieved my goal.
Production of the audiobook for Insurgent will begin shortly after the book is released. I’ve reached out to Scott Aiello, and the book is on his schedule. I’m hopeful the audiobook will be published by June.
Another noteworthy thing worth mentioning is that Genesis – First Colony Book 1 is in Prime Reading on Amazon for the next 90 days. The book is FREE for anyone who is a member of Amazon Prime, so if you haven’t read Genesis or know someone who might enjoy the book please check it out. What’s Amazon Prime? What’s next?
I’ve actually already started writing my 21st book titled – Acheron Inheritance. I’m about 20% through writing the first draft. This book is in a new series that I will release this summer.
New series audiobooks? Definitely, but it’s too soon to say when they’ll be released, or who will narrate them.
What’s next for First Colony?
The next book in the series is titled – Invasion – First Colony Book 11. I will soon begin planning that book. I’m aiming to release this book by the end of the summer, so late August – early September time frame.
I will get back to work now because . . . deadlines.
